The Children of Hurin was very good as expected. As it a compilation and expansion of one of the stories told in the Simarillion, I didn't learn a lot that was new, but it was good to solidify my understanding of Tolkein's Universe.
After I finished that I read through Orson Scott Card's Shadow Puppets in his contination of his alternate viewpoint series from his fabulous book Ender's Game. I have to say that he's gotten better at ending out series. This one ended with only a few loose threads and those too where not so big that you could drive a car through as they were with some of his other series.
I'm now reading Dominic's Goa by Dominic Fernandes. It was given to me by my uncle in Kuwait. It's a nostalgic look back at Goa from the 1940's on. A very interesting read laced with Konkai words and phrases that I'm struggling to pronounce and recognize. It talks about a Goa that is almost completely foreign to me. It makes me wonder what we've lost by coming as far as we have. The editing leaves something to be desired, but as it's really a compilation of essays that were fomerly posted on a Goa-centric web forum those failings can be understood if not forgiven. I don't think you will find this one easily on-line. You'll have to ask me for a copy of it after I'm done with it.
